Rebekah answered his request for water and drew enough for the camels as well. When her family wanted to delay the departure, Rebekah answered, ‘I will go.’ Esau and Jacob were born into the household she formed with Isaac, and her motherhood included love, anxiety, preference and conflict. Her role in Jacob receiving the blessing deeply wounded the family. Scripture preserves both her strength and her failures, showing God continuing his promise through imperfect people.
