Today’s encouragement

The fear of the Lord is not a terror that drives us away, but a holy reverence that gives God his rightful place. Information is everywhere, yet wisdom still begins by listening to the One who sees the whole road. A reverent heart does not boast in what it knows; it remains teachable and willing to be corrected. Folly is more than lacking facts—it is treating counsel as beneath us and making our own voice final.

Before today’s decisions, let us ask not only what benefits us, but what is right before the Lord. True knowledge becomes life-giving when humility lets God’s word shape our choices. Wisdom grows wherever we approach God with love, awe, and an open heart.

Today’s prayer

Holy Lord, forgive me for treating you casually and making my own judgment the measure of all things. Teach me to stand in awe of your holiness and still draw near with confidence in your love. Help me use knowledge to live what is good and true, not merely to appear informed. Keep me from becoming defensive when I receive wise counsel. Give me honesty to recognize my mistakes and humility to change direction. In my decisions, teach me to seek your pleasure before human applause. Guard my words from pride and my heart from stubbornness. Lead me by your word today, and help me put what I learn into loving practice. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Our history

The story of a building brought back to life.

The original inscription has not survived, so the exact construction date is unknown. Sources indicate that the church was built in the early 1800s.

  1. 1800s

Built as a small cemetery church for the needs of the local Greek Orthodox community.

  2. After 1924

After the population exchange the church closed for worship; it was used first as a hospital and later as a warehouse.

  3. 2015

Following restoration by Menemen Municipality, worship was held here again on 10 May for the first time in 93 years.

  4. 2018

The building opened to local and international visitors and rejoined the historical and cultural life of Menemen.

Our faith

Jesus Christ is at the centre of our faith.

Our faith, worship and way of life are shaped by the witness of the Bible rather than by tradition or personal opinion.

01

The Bible

We believe that the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and are the trustworthy authority for faith, worship and life.

Scripture leads us to know God’s character, answer Christ’s call and shape our everyday choices in the light of his truth.

02

One God

We believe in one God, Creator of the universe, who has revealed himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

God is loving, holy, just and gracious. He sustains all creation and calls every person into a living relationship with himself.

03

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the promised Saviour, the Word of God, crucified for us and raised on the third day.

Fully God and fully human, he lived among us, died for our sins, rose in victory over death and will come again.

04

Salvation

We believe salvation is not earned by good works, but received through faith as God’s gift of grace in Jesus Christ.

Those who trust in Christ’s finished work are forgiven, reconciled to God and brought into new life through the Holy Spirit.

05

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit leads the church into truth, transforms believers and empowers them for service.

He lives within believers, forms Christ’s character in us, strengthens our prayer and witness, and gives gifts for service.

06

The Church

We believe the church is first a living community of people who trust in Christ, his body, rather than simply a building.

The church is a family that worships together, carries one another, proclaims the gospel and bears witness to God’s love where it lives.
